Today once again marks the anniversary of the infamous 1945 Allied firebombing of Dresden that, in one night, leveled most of the city and killed somewhere between 24,000 and 40,000 of its inhabitants.

My initial reaction upon hearing news of the rally was, "Oh man. I am so there." Purely for curiosity and educational reasons, of course. But the more I think about spending my Valentine's Day with Neo-Nazis, the less appealing it sounds. Besides, it's probably not the best atmosphere to be bringing a baby into. Even if said baby is an Aryan.

P.S. Stay tuned for a video tour of a couple of sites particularly significant to the 1945 bombing of Dresden.

Jaz, I love reading your posts, they are so educational and funny-I miss you guys. Love you.
Well, I am SOOOOO sorry that the allies bombed Dresden. It is a beautiful city, but for crying out loud--how could a whole nation follow a lunatic to war?????? I'm glad they have made it beautiful again. When the terrorists bomb Vegas, I'll be one of the casualties, I'm sure, and then Germany can feel better.

@mom: there are plenty of people who think that happened to us 6 years ago, when we went to war under false pretenses.
Also, I'm pretty sure that everyone is so drunk on Obama-koolaid that if he decided to invade Mexico, everyone would think it was a fantastic idea - an idea that would give Americans more HOPE™.
