Nesting, Etc.

Junior and I wait for the tram.

Oh, hi! It's me, your friendly neighborhood blimp, here. How are you? I'm huge. And so afraid of popping that I now rarely wander farther than the grocery store down the street.

Boredom, anxiety and excitement regularly combine to form an interesting cocktail I call "madness".

Lately, I've been combating this by knitting. Here are some things I recently made:

I started this blanket a couple of weeks after I found out I was pregnant and finished it just a few weeks ago. It's the most substantial thing I've ever knitted — my first ever blanket — and I'm pretty stoked about it.

I've also been cooking a lot. I attempted cinnamon rolls for Jake's birthday and experienced something I've almost never experienced in the kitchen before: success.

Considering this attempt three years ago at snickerdoodles ...

I have to say I think I'm really progressing.

Even Jake's caught the domestication bug. A few weeks ago he put the finishing touches on the homemade beanbag chair he's been sewing.

It's a marvelous work. It's become my favorite chair — as long as there's someone else around to help me get out of it.

Sidenote: The beanbag stuffing Jake ordered to fill the chair up with came with this complimentary gift:

Because nothing says "Thanks for buying your gigantic bag of Styrofoam filling from us" like a personalized hand towel. That's spelled wrong.

Oh yeah, and we voted.

The verdict? Absentee voting is grrrreat!

Love the blanket, and the booties, and the beanies, and the snickerdoodles. Did you share some with the Lewandowskis?

Way to go Jake on the beanbag chair!

I must say I am quite impressed with you and Jake. Your little knitted treasures are amazing and the cinnomon rolls are something I haven't even attempted with out assistance from the dough boy. As for Jakes bean bag, you should get video of yourself trying to get out of it. That would make for a good laugh with your cute belly!

Hellooooo! Oh I loved all the things you've been making/knitting--and Jake too. I can't wait to get there, hopefully in the Spring, and you can make me some yuuuuuummie cinnamon rolls. They look just like mine used to, oh so long ago. Now I can't remember how. So how did you feel about the outcome of the elections? Perhaps you, like some others I heard about on the Today Show today, are naming their babies "Obama." (I think I shouldn't have mentioned that.) Jake, your bean bag is amazing! You two are awesome! The little peanut will probably pop out (from the looks of Jaz's tummy, I hope that's soon)with a tool of some sort in his little hand.

I have so many things to say about this post. first and formost, did you add flour to those cookies? Second, you have become a domestic goddess, those cinnamon rolls look so good I want to reach all the way across th sea and eat them in one delicious bite. Third, that towel is just what I have been wanting for Matt for Christmas! What is the name of that wonderful company who ships a ton of packing with an embroyderd towel. I know so many times my towels have been damaged in shipping. and Last but not least, you have a big belly, and you still look GREAT! I don't think it is fair.

@Jan: No. I think that would've been grounds for eviction.
@Anne: No, Obama is not on the potential names list. Hussein, however, is a hot contender.
@the Godfreys: No, there was no flour in those cookies. In my defense, the recipe I was using had somehow left that part out. I checked and rechecked it before (stupidly) deciding to trust it.

So you're one of thooose... the I'm obviously pregnant because the rest of me is so tiny type? It's a shame I have to hate you for this.

And wow to the knitting skills. I need a domestic talent. And making clothes is a win-win because it turns out I'm also disturbingly cheap.
